Quoridor for 4 players: rules and online play
Quoridor is best known as a duel, but the four-player game is a different beast: chaotic, social and full of temporary alliances. Here is how the classic four-player rules work, how WallRush Pro’s 4-player mode differs, and how to win when three rivals are building walls at the same time.
Classic four-player Quoridor rules
In the boxed game, four players share the same 9×9 board. Each pawn starts in the middle of its own side and must reach the opposite side. The 20 walls are split evenly, so each player has 5. Turns go clockwise, and on each turn you either move one square or place one wall, just like in the two-player game.
Jumping works as usual, and with four pawns on the board, jumps happen far more often. The no-trap rule still applies: no wall may cut any player off from their goal.
WallRush Pro 4-player mode
WallRush Pro uses a larger 11×11 board for four players, with a golden cell in the centre. All four pawns race towards that centre cell, and each player has 7 walls. The bigger board and the shared goal mean every wall you place affects several rivals at once.
To play, open Play online, create a public room and set the seats to 4. Empty seats fill with real players from the lobby.
Tactics that work with four players
Four-player games reward different habits from 1v1:
- Block the leader, not your neighbour. Wall whoever is closest to winning, even if they are across the board.
- Let others spend their walls. If someone else is already blocking the leader, save your walls for later.
- Stay flexible. With so many walls on the board, the shortest path changes every round, so keep more than one route open.
- Watch the turn order. The player who moves right before the leader is in the best position to block them.
Why four-player Quoridor is great online
Getting four people around a physical board is hard. Online, a four-player table fills in seconds, the app enforces every rule, and nobody has to count walls by hand. That makes WallRush Pro one of the easiest ways to try 4-player Quoridor for free.
